Frequently Asked

Common Questions About Hormone Testing

Can’t find your question here? Send it to us and we will reply before you book.

Ask your question
Is saliva testing as good as blood?

For several hormones it is well suited, because saliva can be collected at several points across a day at home, which matters for hormones that swing. For other markers blood is the right sample. Which is used depends on the marker; both are used here.

When in my cycle should I be tested?

If you are still cycling, we will tell you which days to collect on, because progesterone in particular can only be read correctly on the right days. If you are post-menopausal or not cycling, timing is simpler.

Will the result tell me I need Hormone Therapy?

Not on its own. The panel describes what your hormones are doing; whether anything should be replaced or supported is a clinical decision made with you, weighing your symptoms, history and preferences.

Do I need a consultation first?

Yes. A doctor orders the test after a consultation, so it is chosen for your history and symptoms, not picked from a list. The same doctor then explains your results.

Where are the samples analyzed?

Samples are processed by accredited local and international laboratories, including partners in Australia, Germany and the USA, depending on which panel is ordered.

What happens after the results come back?

Your doctor goes through your results with you in person instead of emailing them. Together you agree a personalized plan, and the relevant markers are retested later to check it is working.
