Services Medical Screening IgG Food Allergy

IgG Food
Allergy

The IgG food allergy test offers a useful tool for detecting the foods causing delayed reactions. The results are patient specific and provide an easy, precise and effective starting point for dietary manipulation.

What it is

Delayed Reactions
to Food

Food sensitivities can cause a wide range of symptoms and disorders. The foods that cause these delayed reactions are often hard to diagnose because of the time between consumption and the physical reaction. The IgG food allergy test offers a useful tool for detecting the foods causing this response.

All Medical Screening Tests
  1. Eat a Large Variety of Foods

It is recommended to eat a large variety of foods in the two weeks prior to testing.

  2. Include the Foods Being Tested

Include as many of the foods that are being tested in the specific allergy panel you have chosen.

  3. False Negative Results

If foods are not included in the diet during this time, false negative results may be obtained, as recent exposure to these foods may be required for antibodies to be present in the blood.

  4. Interpreting Your Results

Patients are highly recommended to seek the supervision and guidance of a qualified healthcare practitioner for the interpretation of any lab results and associated information.

Ask your question
What is IgG testing used for?

IgG (immunoglobulin G) testing is a useful guide for practitioners to structure an elimination diet for many chronic health conditions.

What is the difference between allergies and sensitivities?

Adverse food reactions include any abnormal reaction resulting from the ingestion of a food. They can be categorised as food allergies (with an immune response) or food sensitivities/intolerance.

Why are these reactions difficult to diagnose?

The time between consumption and response may be delayed (up to 2 days) and the symptoms are often subtle. In many cases ingestion of the offending food paradoxically masks the symptoms temporarily.

What symptoms can adverse food reactions cause?

The symptoms can be as mild as bloating but as severe as anaphylaxis. A wide variety of more non-specific symptoms can be attributed to food sensitivities, such as fatigue, headaches, difficulty losing weight, food addictions and trouble concentrating.

Which conditions may be linked to adverse food reactions?

Conditions which may be caused or exacerbated by adverse food reactions include asthma, arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), migraine, otitis media and skin rashes.

Which IgG allergy panels are there?

The IgG allergy panels are blood spot tests: General Foods, Asian Foods, Vegetarian Foods and Inhalants.
